Automated Optical Inspection platform
A platform for composing vision-based production inspection scenarios — cameras to robot arms.
Problem
Catch defects on production lines with a flexible, vision-based inspection system rather than one-off scripts.
My Role
Defined the entire architecture and led development: image sources from webcams to industrial cameras, an in-app builder for composing vision algorithms (part detection, OCR, blob analysis), third-party analyzers like line lasers for pin inspection, and actuation of robotic arms plus linear and rotating axes — driven by repurposed 3D-printer motion control.
Result
Deployed across 5+ products (multiple lines each) — a reusable inspection platform, not a single tool: new production scenarios are composed inside the app instead of coded from scratch.
CAN analysis & simulation tool
An in-house replacement for a commercial CAN tool used across department projects.
Problem
Reduce dependence on expensive commercial CAN tooling licenses for day-to-day department work.
My Role
Built a CANoe-like tool: interface to the Vector APIs, a graphing system, a CAN-message interaction layer, a 3D data plotter, and an application-platform layer.
Result
Freed the department from per-seat commercial licenses — CAN analysis on Vector APIs without license-locked hardware.
Airbag HiL test equipment
Hardware-in-the-loop test equipment for safety-critical airbag systems.
Problem
Validate airbag ECUs safely and repeatably with hardware-in-the-loop test equipment.
My Role
Own the end-to-end lifecycle — architecture, implementation, and system integration — plus maintaining/upgrading HiL infrastructure and debugging complex integration issues.
Result
Ongoing consulting work: test equipment that validates airbag ECUs for tens of OEMs.
